Negative on the preeclampsia

Just got back from the doctors and all my testing came back good. So now we wait to see if he comes on his own. Since everything is pretty much done and ready for him (house is even cleaned!) we thought we would take a trip to the beach tomorrow. So I asked the doctor if that would be ok and she advised us not to :( Now we have a 3 day weekend with NO plans what so ever... don't think that has ever happened before! Maybe Blake will decide to come after all :)

Hope you all have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

Possible Preeclampsia

At my appointment on Wednesday my blood pressure was a bit high. So I am being tested for preeclampsia (high blood pressure and protein in urine). For those of you who don't know, part of being tested for preeclampsia is you must collect your urine for 24 hours! Sounds like fun huh? So yesterday I got the joy drinking a gallon of water and collecting my pee. You can guess where I spent my day. Now the urine has been turned in, my blood has been drawn twice (twice because they screwed up the first time) and we wait for the results.

This could be it! I have an appointment at 3:15 this afternoon and I am assuming if I did test positive for mild preeclampsia they will probably induce me this weekend! Which I am ready for! So hopefully I will be having a baby this Memorial Day weekend!

2 Projects...

Since I have been on maternity leave as of Monday (yay!) I have had some time to get a couple projects for Blake's room finished! I wasn't sure if I would get them done by the time he arrived so it feels great to have them complete! Now we just need to hang somethings on his walls and his room will be done!

Project #1: Basket Labels
We ended up buying the matching changing table to the crib for Blake's room. Since we don't have a dresser for him, I thought if we got some baskets to put on the shelfs of the changing table it would double as a dresser. We found some great brown baskets at Baby's R Us this weekend but after putting things in them, I quickly realized that it is going to be a pain to remember what is in which basket. So I decided they needed some labels!

Project #2: Crib Skirt
The other project was a crib skirt! It was a bit more time consuming/challenging then the labels but I am pretty please with the results! I got the idea from here

Once we get things hung on his walls (which will hopefully be soon) I will post better pictures of his room!

Come on Blake!

We have had a productive weekend and are now ready for Blake to come any day!

  • Went to Portland and made our returns and bought some last minute things
  • Installed the car seat!
  • Organized/put away all of Blake's clothes and other baby things (just need to hang somethings on his bedroom walls)
  • Had maternity pictures taken!
  • Hospital bags are packed!
  • Now Russ is watching the last episode of LOST ever!!! (I think I am a little over excited this show is coming to an end:)
So we are ready for Blake! And I am hoping he comes soon, because I don't know how I can make it 2 more weeks! Russell keeps telling him its okay for him to come out so hopefully he listens!

37 weeks and 3 days

When I imagined being pregnant and preparing for the arrival of our baby, I always thought that I would be over prepared. I had imagined the nursery being complete months before the due date, clothes washed, organized and put away weeks before baby were to arrive, car seat installed and hospital bags packed. But here we are almost 2 weeks away from the due date and I am not nearly as prepared as I thought I would be!
37 weeks
Nursery isn't finished... I still need to make a crib skirt and hang things on the walls. Clothes aren't organized or put away... at least they are mostly washed though! We have a car seat but we are going to exchange it this weekend for one that will work with our stroller (that is if Blake doesn't arrive before then). Hospital bags are definitely not packed.
So with only 2 weeks away from the much anticipated arrival of our baby boy and I am franticly trying to get everything done. I guess I always thought that he would come late but that may not be the case because as of Friday I have dilated 2-3cm! The Midwife seemed to think he could come any day now!

Grandma Wright

On Tuesday May 11th 2010 Russell's Grandma, Marilyn Sue Wright, with her loving husband and daughters by her side went home to be with Jesus. Marilyn was only 68 years old and had been fighting Liver Disease since last July.

This past weekend Russell and I went to Medford for her Memorial Service. It was amazing to me to see how many lives Marilyn had touched as there were 250-300 people at her service. I would say she loved people the way Jesus wants us to love people. There were even two bank tellers that had heard about her passing and she had touch their life in such away that they felt compelled to come to her service.

A memory I will always have of her was when Russell and I first started dating, my family went to the church (Rogue Valley Fellowship) where her husband (Russell's Grandpa Todd) was a pastor. Every Sunday that I was there with my parents during the "meet and greet" time she would always find me and give me a big hug. There was never a Sunday that she wouldn't come find me. She made me feel like a part of her family before I really became a part of the family. We were all hoping and praying that she would make it to meet her first great-grand-baby but the Lord had a different plan and with tears in my eyes, I am okay with that because I know that she is walking and talking with Jesus and is no long in pain. The last major outing she had was to my baby shower. I am so thankful of the memory I have of her being there.
Marilyn was a woman of God, and loved Jesus with all her heart. She was and still is an inspiration to me. I will remember her as always having a smile on her face. I will cherish the memories of the time we spent together. She was a grandma to me and I look forward to the day when I will see her again, in heaven!

Fun Weekend!

On Thursday I headed up to Portland to pick Michelle and Tristan up. Yes, they are back in town! Just visiting though :( Tristan is growing so fast! He is a lot of fun these days and has quite the little personality!
Big brown eyes

That hand is pretty tasty

Haven't quite mastered sitting on my own

Friday I had dinner with Jamie, Kendra and Mary. Jamie was in town from the bay area. It was great to get together with these girls and catch up on life! Jamie- you and Jonathan need to move back!!
I didn't realize how big my belly is! And I still have a month to go!

On Saturday we spent the morning walking around the Corvallis Farmer's Market and then picked up Michael and headed to the spring football game. (Michael is the little boy I have watched since he was 18 months old and he is now five!)

5 weeks to go...

I can't believe Blake will be here in just 5 weeks! If the next 5 weeks go by as fast as the last 35 then I will practically blink and he will be here! I can't wait to hold him in my arms and kiss his little cheeks!

I realize I haven't written much about being pregnant so here are a few things...
  • Finding out the sex... I will have to admit I was a bit shocked when we found out we were having a boy. With both Russell and I coming from families with mostly girls I just thought we would have a girl. In fact I have always pictured myself with all girls, but have always wanted a boy. We are very excited to add another boy to the family! It will especially be fun that Blake and Tristan will be so close in age!
  • Naming him... Boy names were hard. We had a girl name pretty much picked out before the ultrasound but not a really a boy name. One weekend we were visiting in Medford, talking with my parents about boy names. My dad said "what about Blake? Blake Bartlett has kind of a nice ring to it." And we both thought yeah it we like that. But I wasn't ready to "commit" to a name quite yet so we thought about it for awhile and looked at other names but always came back to Blake. After many conversations about names, we made the final decision that his hame would be Blake Russell. We learned that Russell is a family name on Russell's mom's side and goes back 5 or so generations and we want to carry on the family name. So that is how Baby Boy Bartlett became Blake Russell Bartlett!
  • Things I have not enjoyed about being pregnant... For the most part I have enjoyed being pregnant and thankfully it has been a pretty easy pregnancy. But I have not enjoyed the random heartburn/acid reflux that just comes and goes as it pleases, with no rhyme or reason. Or how I can't wear my wedding ring anymore, or how I feel tired a lot (which I think is going to get worse before it gets better) or how I feel like I need a forklift to get off the couch (hahaha).
  • Things I love about being pregnant... I love looking down at my stomach and seeing him move (so amazing!), I love feeling him move (also amazing!), I love it when Russ gets to feel him move, I love having a reason to buy cute baby clothes, I love hearing his heartbeat, I love having a reason to take a nap, I love the fact that in 3 weeks I get to do what I have always wanted to do... be a stay at home mom! I have loved seeing my belly grow (but not so sure  how it can get any bigger in the next 5 weeks). I love going into his room an imagining what its going to be like in 5 weeks when we bring him home, I know our lives will be changed forever... I can't wait!
