Lily's Leg

Well, the first broken bone in the Bartlett family goes to little Miss Lily.
On Friday, I watched Michael and we went to the park. I suggested that Lily go down the slide on Michael's lap. As they went down, her leg got caught in between his leg and edge of the slide and went backward. I watched it happen... it was like slow motion, and as soon as it happened I knew it wasn't good. She cried, but it wasn't a my-leg-is-broken-I-am-in-so-much-pain type cry. So we played at the park a bit longer and then headed back to Michael's house. When we got there I put her on the floor and I knew something wasn't right. When she tried to crawl she would cry and stop. I called Russ to get a second opinion and then called the doctor.
And sure enough it was fractured
Thankfully, we had the option to use a splint. We can take it off for baths and it's not as bulky as a cast. She has to wear it for about 3 weeks. The first night was a challenge, she couldn't seem to get comfortable to sleep with it and was up a lot. She has now figured out how to crawl with it, but won't stand on it {I'm sure it still hurts a lot}.
Thank you everyone for the prayers and comments on Facebook and Instagram. It means a lot!

Lily's First Birthday Party

Last Sunday we had Lily's 1st Birthday Party. A few weeks before we laid sod in the back yard intending to be able to use it for the party. We should have known that it was going to be a monsoon the weekend of her party! I think it rained a good couple inches that day, no joke and it was supper windy. It was a steady downpour the whole day. So to make things work, we cleaned out the garage and had half the party in there. It really ended up working out fine and I was surprised at how well our house held the 40+ people that were here!

 See the rain out there?!

Lily's "smash" cake
 The cake
The table spread
#1 Piñata
(I used this tutorial to make the piñata, except, I used the rolled crape paper instead of tissue paper)

We had so much family come (which was so fun!) and many of them were traveling form the Portland, Salem, and Medford. I thought it would be nice to have her open presents from them before everyone else came, then that way they could take off when they needed too and it wouldn't be so crazy.

It was a little sad seeing this thing being hit at ha!

I didn't get a picture of it but, we had to call in Uncle Danny to hit it hard enough to break it open!

 The house full!
Birthday girl ready for some cake!

Don't worry, we ended up cutting it in half!
More presents

Lily and Liya

I still can't believe Lily is ONE!
Thank you everyone who came! We are so blessed to have such great friends and family! It was a fun day!
