Semi-Sunny Saturday

A semi-sunny saturday is the perfect day for the pumpkin patch! After Blake's nap on Saturday we headed out to Airlie Hills Farm to check out the all the fun festive fall things. I'll let the pictures do the talking :)
We started off with the Hay Ride! I was under the impression that the hay ride would take us to the pumpkin patch. It seems like most pumpkin patches I've been to the last few years require a hay ride to get to the pumpkin patch. So I was a bit surprised when the tractor pulled us right back around to where we started. And then I realized the pumpkin patch was just a short walking distance to the right. Silly me. [Hahaha. Not sure why I just shared that with you.] But Blake wasn't too fond of the hay ride so I was a little relieved we didn't have to get back on it!
After the hay ride we headed to the dark hay maze. Not so sure what we were thinking taking babies into a dark hay maze. Thankfully we had iPhones with flash lights to help us find our way out.
Blake wasn't so fond of the dark maze either.
Next we headed to the corn maze... in the day light!

Corn mazes make for a good family photo op!

We gave up on the maze and headed over to the big slide!
Beautiful view from atop the huge hay pyramid

 Going down the slide!
Now off to find a pumpkin!
Avery wasn't so sure about the wheelbarrow ride

As we were picking out our pumpkins this man came up to us and asked if he could take a few pictures of Blake. At first I hesitated [you never know these days] and then he went on to explain that he was with the newspaper for Polk County called the Itemizer-Observer taking pictures at the local pumpkin patch to print in the paper. I said sure and he snapped a few pics and said Blake would be in the paper on Wednesday! He also took our email so I'm hoping he remembers to email the pics to us.

He [the newspaper guy] also said "he's too cute not to print". I know I'm partial but I'd have to agree. I mean look at that cute little behind!

 So excited!
And even more excited about the baby calf!

This year was so much different at the pumpkin patch then last year, Blake could actually do things! And I'm sure next year will be even more fun... I'm seeing a family tradition in the making.

Also wanted to share... I made these pumpkin cream cheese muffins yesterday. They are amazing. You must try them.

A boy and his blanket

Blake has a special blanket. Or more of a special shaped blanket.

Blake has slept in a CoZibug sleep sac since he was about 3 months old. He loved it. I don't think he had napped or went to bed without it. Ever. He gave up the pacifier at about 5 months (totally on his own, just wasn't interested) and ever since has kind of used the tab on the sleep sack as a pacifier. He would push his arm through to unbutton the left side (always the left) and would hold the tab up to his lips and make a sucking motion. Weird I know.
Here he is when he still fit in the sleep sac.

Since CoZibug only makes a one size sleep sac, (which is probably a good thing otherwise he would most likely be sleeping in it till he turns 15) I was dreading the day in which he would out grow his beloved sleep sac. How would he be able to go to sleep with out his favorite comfy sleep sac?

So when the day came that he no longer fit in his sleep sac I thought I would try making one into a blanket. We had three sleep sacs, one on which the zipper had broken. So I took the broken zippered one and removed the zipper and opened it up to lay flat like a blanket and sewed the edges.

He loves it! He has been sleeping with his sleep sac turned blanket since July now. And it pretty much goes everywhere with us.
We now call it "night-night"
If I say "Blake go get night-night" he usually knows right where he left it.

The tab gets so gross and smelly from his slobber but then after I wash it he gets mad because he can't find his favorite tab. But don't worry I still manage to wash it. I love his "night-night" too because the only time he ever sits still on my lap is when he is snuggling with it.
I have a feeling "night-night" will probably go to college with him.

Oh yeah... It also makes a pretty cool cape!

A Birthday Weekend

{Is it already Wednesday?! Oh my how the days fly by! I meant to have this post done on Sunday oops!}

Russell's Birthday was on Sunday so we had fun birthday weekend!
On Saturday before the OSU game we had tailgating b-day party for Russ.
 {sadly we lost, again}
Danny and Russ.... yes, Russ did allow a duck fan to come to his party

 Benny even showed up
The Bartlett side of the family!
One cute little Beaver fan!

Saturday night Russell's parents stayed with us. Sunday we went to church with them and then out to our favorite pizza place. Fun weekends always go by way too fast!

Happy Birthday Russ! I love you!

Finally a Beaver WIN!

The Beavers finally won a game this weekend! It was a great football Saturday.
We started by tailgating breakfast style with breakfast burritos and tequila sunrises on the menu.
Blake made it through the whole game, even napping for almost an hour in the front pack!
The weather was great. It was almost too sunny if you can imagine that. In fact I forgot to put sunscreen on Blake's cheeks thinking it would be cloudy and he ended up with a sunburn.
And did I mention we won!!

A Red Wagon

I found this wagon at a garage sale on Friday! Who doesn't love a good deal?!
Saturday [before the rain showed up] Blake went for his first wagon ride.
He loved it so much that as we were heading back up the drive he started screaming like he wanted to keep going so we went all the way around the block. He LOVED it! He was very good at holding on.
I'm afraid to say that it looks like this might have been his only wagon ride for awhile. It seems the rain has returned and might be here till May. Ugh... the long wet season is upon us.
